Orville Cyril Werner Jr, known to friends and family as “Bud” passed away peacefully in his home on September 21st, 2026, following a lengthy illness.
He was born on October 2, 1937 in Freeburg, Il, and grew-up on a farm with his parents, Alice & Orville Cyril Werner Sr. He had an older sister, Lucille, now 94, and younger brothers John and Wayne. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother John.
He joined the U.S. Airforce in 1956, and served until 1960, including a tour of duty at Lajes Field on Terceira Island in the Azores.
He and his wife, Marilyn J. Werner were married on September 13th, 1960, and were married for 66 years prior to his passing.
They had 2 sons, Stephen in 1963, and Kenneth in 1965.
They purchased their home in Aurora in 1966, moved from Denver, and had continued to live there ever since.
“Bud” began his 40 years in the Civil Service, including the latter part of his career with the Defense Finance and Accounting Service.
“Bud” enjoyed woodworking and home construction, including both designing and building their Chalet-styled mountain home, known to family as “the Cabin” near Florissant, Colorado, where they and family spent much of their time from 1974 to present.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially fishing on the creek running through their mountain property.
Bud was a devoted family man, and was loving and generous with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
His grandchildren are Andrea (41), Amanda (37), Stephen Daniel (34), Forrest (29) and Jonah (25). His great-grandchildren are Juan “Manny” (20), Daniel (14), and Rue (2).
“Bud” was also a life-long follower of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, having chosen to follow Him from a young age. Raised in the Assemblies of God denomination, after being transferred to Lowry AirForce Base, he joined Denver South Assemblies of God church, where he met and married Marilyn. After moving to Aurora, they joined Aurora First Assembly of God at the Boston Street location, continuing as members for 60 years under pastors James Bulware, Howard Cummings, and Gene Roncone; and through the church’s moves to the Alameda Avenue location, and on to the Southlands location as High Point Church. Bud also enjoyed every chance he had to sing a long-time member of the church choir.
To those who knew and loved him, he will be greatly missed until we meet again in Heaven.
