Patrice Yvette Searcy, 54, of Denver, CO, passed away February 16, 2014 with her two daughters at her side.
Patrice was born on April 28, 1959 in Landstuhl, Germany, the daughter of Muriel and Olive (Barnes) Howard. On June 8, 1977, while serving in the United States Air Force, she married her best friend, David Searcy, who was also a service member. After serving a short time, Patrice ended her Air Force career to become a stay at home mother to her first daughter, Erica, followed four years later by her youngest, Jenelle.
Patrice was an amazing mother and lived for God and her family. She was able to make friends easily and enjoyed working several different jobs while her children were at school as her family frequently moved. Patrice always took pride in every job she held, whether it was as a police dispatcher or a short order cook, an executive secretary or a casino cashier.
Patrice was an active member of the CASA Organization, and also volunteered at the Heart of Hope Maternity Home for teenage girls. Giving her time to help others was something that she did without a second thought. She was an active member of her church and frequently volunteered on various committees.
At the age of 43, Patrice became a "Nana" to Oliviah Patrice, her first grandchild. In the years following, Patrice would become a Nana to five more beautiful children. While she had many hobbies including reading, playing with her pets, and traveling, being a grandmother to her six children and a mother to her two daughters was what brought her the most joy. Patrice loved to see their beautiful smiles and watching them grow over the years was of the upmost importance to her.
Patrice will be remembered by so many whose lives she touched in her short 54 years. Her smile, laughter, kindness and unconditional love of family and friends is something that will live on through those she held close. She was a beautiful woman whose light and goodness shone from the inside out. Her incredible sense of humor brought laughter to so many.
She lived her life in a way she thought was pleasing to God. There are not enough words to describe such a beautiful soul.
Patrice is survived by her daughters Erica (Emerson) Augustine, and Jenelle (Joshua) Post; her grandchildren Ethan Augustine, Oliviah, Avaree, Kyler, and Isabella Post, and Ava Smith; by her mother Olive Barnes and her siblings, Rod, Denise, Jean, and Sherry.
