Patricia Lou "Pat" Younger was born September 19, 1929 in a farmhouse near Joes, Colorado. She passed away at her home on September 3, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. She was the youngest of 7 children born to Harry E. Lambert and Mabel L. (Messenger) Lambert and was preceded in death by her parents, husband William L. "Sam" Younger, brothers and sisters Eugene A. Lambert, Goldie M. Cox, Evelyn L. Austin, William M. Lambert, LaVern Schlichtman and Robert L. Lambert.
Her childhood was spent on the rural Eastern plains of Colorado, moving to Denver, Colorado when she was approximately 12 years old. She attended Baker Jr. High School, graduated from West High School and attended college in Greeley, CO for a short period of time.
She married Walt Ruckman. They had two daughters, Linda and Debbie and in 1955 moved north to a new suburb, Thornton, CO. They were divorced. She married William L. "Sam" Younger in 1964 and they had one son, Harry.
Work started for her at age14 and she held a variety of jobs at different places including Samsonite Luggage, banquet waitress at the Shirley-Savoy Hotel and bookkeeping for Northwest Utilities which was bought by the City of Thornton in 1963. After working for the city for several years, she decided a change was needed and went to work for Perlmack Homes.
She always had time to help friends and family and did so willingly with love, compassion and concern. There were moments and events that triggered her zany side. Some of her antics gave us an abundance of chuckles, laughs, grins and memories over the years. Her family and friends were the center of her world.
She is survived by: Linda Briggs (Patrick Swift) Thornton, Deborah Grabarek (Steve) Arvada and Harry Younger (Kim) Thornton; two grandsons, Eric Briggs and Kevin Grabarek, three granddaughters, Rylee, Emilee and Kloee and two great grandchildren, James and Sarah.
