Paula Ruth Standen

Paula Ruth Standen, 76, of Castle Rock, CO, passed away December 19, 2024.

 Paula was born to the late Paul Eugene Polidore and Johnnie Ruth Polidore October 31, 1948, in Cleveland, OH. Paula grew up in Westlake, OH and graduated from Saint Joseph Academy in 1966. She married Kenneth Alan Standen in August 1968, and they lived together in Fairview Park, OH before relocating to Colorado in 1985. Paula also earned her Certification in HR management from Regis University in Colorado.

Paula lived her life with grace and generosity, always giving help where she could and always putting the needs of her family and friends ahead of her own. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend and thrived in each one of those roles. She put all of herself in everything she did, whether it was a birthday, Holiday, or simple dinner with family, every detail was perfectly planned and thoughtful.

Paula and Ken had a beautiful love story together for 60 years. They drove many miles together over the years visiting family and making memories together, laughing and crying together. They shared all the ups and downs with each other each day and overcame any obstacle together. They fell in love and made a beautiful life that Paula cherished. She loved her children and adored her grandchildren. She always thought of her sisters, nieces and nephews and extended family, as she checked in often to make sure everyone was doing well. Paula will be missed and will remain in loving memory to all who knew her.

Paula worked for the Douglas County Libraries from 2004-2020 as an HR Manager and loved her time there and the friends she made lasting relationships with. She valued the Volunteer Program she helped shape and community she felt a part of.

Paula is survived by her loving husband Ken Standen, her two children and their spouses: Tamara and Scott Dietz and Kenny and Kirsten Standen, her three grandchildren Chase Standen, Max Dietz and Skylar Standen, her sister Carole Arcelin and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her sister Nancy Miska and her parents Paul and Johnnie Polidore.

A Celebration of Life will be later in 2025 in line with her wishes. Thank you.
