Nina Pauline Johnson, 85, passed away on Friday, September 2, 2016.
She was born to Dan and Louise Whelchel, October 7, 1930, in Helena, AK. Pauline trained as a nurse at Charity Hospital in New Orleans where she received her RN license. She married Charles W. Johnson in May 1958. They moved to Denver in 1964 where she resided until her death.
Pauline was a homemaker for many years, later returning to her nursing career. For a short time she worked in a nursing home, but spent the bulk of her nursing career working in labor and delivery at Fitzsimons Army Medical Base where she retired. She was passionate about helping "her mommas" deliver healthy children.
Pauline is survived by two children: Frances Osterberg of Castle Pines; and Charles Johnson, Jr. of Denver. She is also survived by two grandchildren: Kimberly David and Amanda Osterberg; and by three great grandchildren: Alexis, Logan, and Phineas David. She is preceded in death by her parents Dan and Louise Whelchel, her step-mother Frances Whelchel and all of her brothers and sisters, Dan Whelchel, Elsa Harris, Henrietta Whelchel, Loys Fite, and Jordan Whelchel.
Services will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home on Friday, September 9th at 10:00 a.m. followed by burial at Fairmount Cemetery.
