Penny Joan Kirby was born at Booth Memorial Hospital in Denver, Colorado on July 10, 1957. Penny was adopted by William "Bill" Herburger and Emma "June" Herburger, nee Deeds.
She was a longtime Arvada resident and still resided in her childhood home at the time of death, which occurred December 30, 2025, at Collier Hospice Center in Wheat Ridge.
Penny graduated from Arvada High School. She took Auto Shop where she built her 1966 Chevelle SS race car. Her first job was at Bandimere Speedway where she worked and raced her '66 Chevelle SS for one year. Her career included working at St. Anthony Hospital Central as a Secretary for the Pulmonary Department from 1976 until 1984. She met her husband Patrick while working there at that time and they were married on June 27, 1988. They relocated to Houston, Texas in 1985 and she worked at Memorial Hermann Hospital there until 1986. The couple returned to Colorado and Penny begin working for Lutheran Medical Center in Wheat Ridge as a Medical Transcriptionist in the Radiology Department. She was employed there from 1986 to 2013, some 27 years.
Penny was an animal lover and had many dogs and cats in her lifetime. She enjoyed spending time at her log cabin in Bailey, Colorado, riding her 1951 Harley Panhead Chopper and cruising in her 1979 Trans Am. She also enjoyed watching old horror movies. Penny was a very loving and carefree person.
She is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Patrick "Pat", daughter Ravyn Nicole (Druss) Arnold, of Florida, brother-in-law Mike Kirby, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, sister-in-law, Peg Kirby, of Whitefish, Montana, niece Melissa Kirby and nephew, Patrick Kirby and many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Billy.
