Peter DeAngelis

I am so lucky to have been loved by my soulmate, and while it was not nearly long enough on this earth, I know we will be reunited in the spiritual world.

Peter loved so selflessly and had such a positive impact on everyone he met. He loved deeply and with his whole heart and this world was truly blessed with Peter in it. Peters love for his family, friends, community, and church has resulted in lifelong connections and impacts.

Peter will be remembered as an incredible husband, father, son, brother, and friend. His laugh smile, and outgoing personality make it so easy to fall in love with him. His ability to use music, art, and dance to connect with others, and in turn connect others, has not only created lifelong friendships, but connected couples who he then celebrated with.

Peters love of his Greek culture and his unique dance abilities led him to create and instruct the Kleftes dance group. Kleftes became a part of our family and will forever be Peter’s dance group.

Through Kleftes Peter was able to share his love of both traditional Greek dancing and his own modern spin on Greek dancing which at times got him in trouble. Despite the trouble he may have gotten into, he had the most passion when it came to his choreography as he wanted the audience to love the dance, the culture, and the community as much as he did. Peter also had a Greek cardio class that gave him the chance to further expand on his love of modern style dancing while creating further connections. Peter understood how important music, art, and dance are in the Greek community and used this to bring people together.

Teaching Levendia was so special to Peter and he always talked about how he hoped to add a little Κέφι so they grow up with not only a love for their culture and community, but also a love of dance and the autonomy to add their own personality. Peter was also able to share his love of Greek dancing with Niko and was always so proud to watch him performing with the same Κέφι.

Having children was something we always wanted and were so excited to become parents. While becoming parents to Niko was not in the traditional sense, Niko was the piece of us that completed our family. Niko is truly blessed to be able to call Peter dad and Peter made sure Niko knew how proud of him he was and how much he loved him. Peter excelled at being a dad and I loved watching him navigate the complexities that we faced together, while supporting both Niko and I. Peter was always the voice of reason and the calm in the storm. While he could set hard boundaries and let us know when we messed up, we never doubted how much he loved us. We know he loves us still.

Peter was not only Niko’s dad, but he was also the “neighborhood dad” and formed lasting relationships with Niko’s very close friends and neighborhood kids. It was not unusual to find Peter outside playing with nerf guns and spraying the kids with the hose or challenging them to a game of Fortnite which always led to cheering or booing and jestering between them. His ability to navigate the wonderful chaos that comes with being the one house with a yard full of bikes and a house full of kids shows a part of what filled his heart.

Peter’s passion for art started early in his life and his passion for and ability to create art is something that Peter always shared. I know a lot of us who have a Peter original and for many of us a personal art piece designed and created by Peter. There are a few of us who have a tattoo design by Peter as well.

Peter’s smile, laugh, and bigger than life heart is a true loss for all of us and will live on in our hearts forever.

“A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance” Jeremiah 31:13
