Philip Lawrence Oaks (Larry) passed away May 5, 2014, after fighting cancer for more than 6 years.
He was a Colorado native, born November 11, 1947, to Philip and Elsie Oaks.
Larry made his living as a Master Electrician, but his real passion was the outdoors. He was a steward of nature, at home camping, hiking, fishing and skiing, while always exploring – all of which he passed on to his son, Isaac.
Larry's gentle demeanor and kind nature made him a wonderful father, brother, son and friend. He had no enemies and was always the first person to come to your assistance.
Larry is survived by his son, Philip Isaac Oaks; mother, Elsie Oaks; sisters Judy Tafoya and Cindy Booth; brother-in-law Murray Booth; nephews Gabe Tafoya, Jesse Tafoya and Casey Booth; niece Sara Tafoya; and dear friends and fishing buddies.
We will celebrate Larry's sixty-six years with us with a viewing on Sunday from 5 to 7pm; followed by a rosary from 7 to 8pm. Services will be held Monday at 10am.
Larry will be buried in Glenwood Springs, in the mountains he loved.
"I will always remember you and carry your nurturing and kind heart through all my thoughts and actions." - Your son, Isaac
