Phyllis Marie (Jones) Stock passed away January 20, 2011. Mom was born in St. Paul, Mn. to the parents of Vincent Orion Jones and Dorothy Elaine (Bannick) Jones. She spent her youth growing up in St. Paul. While in high school, she was a drummer for the marching band. In 1959, she married Robert J. Stock, also from St. Paul. In 1959, their 1st son was born, David. Robert was in the U.S. Navy at the time , then transfered to over to the U.S. Coast Guard. The military began to transfer us, 1st to St. Louis, MO. then back to St. Paul, where their 1st daughter was born, Linda. Then to Oahu, Hawaii, where she fell in love with the islands, a place she had always dreamed of since she was a child. The Coast Guard transfered us back to St. Paul for a few years, where Karen, their 2nd daughter and 2nd son, Timothy, were born. They were sent back to Hawaii where their 3rd & 4th sons were born, Daniel & Jerome. Phyllis spent her time raising 6 children. When most had left the nest, she continued her education by attending Leeward Community College for 2 years and briefly spent time working at a local radio station. After divorcing Robert, she worked at Keiki Corner child day care center at Barber's Point N.A.S. During the time at Keiki Korner, she received 2 Meritorious Unit Commendations from the US Navy. After retirement she spent a few years in Hawaii before moving to Aurora, Co. She was very active in the Girl Scouts as a leader and co-ordinator of the Girl Scout parade in Hawaii. Many opportunities came her way to work outside our home. However, she was a dedicated mother and was home to greet us each day when we returned home from school. She supported us in all our endeavors, whether it was band, track, scouting. She encouraged us to excel in everything we did, and was always there to cheer us on. Her favorite place to "hang out" at was on Pupukea Beach on the north shore of Oahu to watch the 30 foot crash upon the beach. She is preceeded in death by a daughter, DeAnna Sue. We are going to truly miss her.
