Rachel Stremel

Rachel (Krening) Stremel, born in Fort Morgan CO August 5, 1922, passed away on Monday, April 18, 2011.

Preceded in death by husband Pete Stremel in 1974; her parents John M. and Anna Marie Stroh Krening; five brothers (John S., Conrad, George, Henry, and Harold), five sisters (Marie Eisenbach, Katherine Essig, Barbara Burbach, Pauline Kauffman, and Martha Schaefer). Survived by her children Sondra Eppard and Donald Stremel (Diane), grandchildren Valerie Lutz (David), Tobin Eppard (Susan), Richard Eppard (Ann), Dawn Rice (Dennis), and David Stremel, and great grandchildren Justin, Connor, Ericka, Elise, Evan, Sarah, Lindsay, and Shane; and one sister Mollie Loose of Ft. Morgan, CO. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was the youngest of twelve children to John M. and Anna Marie Krening. Moved to Denver in 1940 to work, met and married Pete in March 1941. After her marriage she continued to work and raise their two children. Once her children were grown she welcomed her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Since her retirement from Sigman's Meat Company she enjoyed creating beautiful crafts, gardening, traveling and spending time with her children and their families. Until her illness she was active at local senior centers creating many beautiful crafts (ceramics, painting, needle point, crocheting, flower arrangements, bead work, and plastic needle point), sharing her creations with family and friends. Sometimes she was the student and other times she was the teacher.
