MSgt, USAF retired, 85, of Aurora passed away Saturday April 14, 2012 following a long battle with cancer. He is survived by Imogene, his wife of 65 years, two sons Ed (wife Mary) and Tim (wife Stephanie), a grandson Andy (wife Gina), and three great grandchildren (Taylor, Tessa, Tyler). Another grandson, Eddie, proceeded him in death. During WWII Ralph enlisted in the Army in 1942 and was a member of the 82nd Airborne, 505th, Company B, 1st Battalion. He was awarded two Purple Hearts and the Bronze Star and several other decorations and awards. Ralph enlisted in the US Air Force after WWII and served 22 years, retiring in 1970. He served during the Korean war and in Vietnam as a Ranch Hand flying on C-123 aircraft. He was awarded two additional Purple Hearts and several other decorations and awards. His most valued awards were the Combat Infantry Badge, and the Parachute Badge "Jump Wings". He will be missed by friends and family and most of all by his dog Chester II. Ralph was a member of the American Legion and a 50 year member of the Scottish Right Mason's. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Aurora Animal Shelter. A private burial will be held at Ft. Logan National Cemetary on Friday. A memorial service will be held at Newcomer East Metro Chapel on Saturday, April 21st at 1:00.
