Raymond "Ed"win Cutrell, 81, of Arvada, Colorado passed away peacefully in the presence of family members on May 1, 2012 after an extended illness. Ed was born in La Junta, Colorado on January 20, 1931 to Edith and Raymond Cutrell. He was their only child but he had numerous aunts, uncles and cousins (that were like brothers and sisters growing up). Ed was preceded in death by his wife Norma Joan and his parents Edith and Raymond Cutrell.
Ed married his high school sweetheart Norma Joan Turpin while attending the Colorado School of Mines. Ed graduated in 1954 with a degree in Metallurgical Engineering. He is survived by four daughters, Cathy Cutrell, Patty (Bill) DuChane and family, Sherrie (Steve) Lambott and family, and Cindy (Rob) Braatz and family; and his loving companion Beverly Thygesen and her three daughters Linda (Fred) Keagy, June Turnbull, and Cindi Turnbull and their families. Ed loved his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed special relationships with his son-in-laws.
Most of his working years were spent with Martin Marietta on the space program and also a realtor helping people invest in housing. Ed was an avid fisherman and in his younger years also hunted. He was a Koshare Indian Dancer (boy scout program) and throughout his life enjoyed learning about Native American Indian culture. Ed also enjoyed bowling, music, dancing and travel and shared many of these joys with his family.
Ed was always there for his family, whether it was with encouragement to do one's best, to love deeply from the heart, to give freely of oneself, to be a good friend to others, and to keep one's word. You could always count on him in a time of need to be there with wisdom and support, comforting words, and hugs.
Ed knew how to tell a great story, have a lot of fun, and was a great role model to his children and grandchildren on living life well.
