Ricardo Nevarez Valadez Jr., lovingly known as “Grayman,” passed away unexpectedly on September 27, 2026, in Trinidad, Colorado. He was born on January 12, 1965, in Denver, Colorado.
Ricardo grew up on Winonna Court, a place that remained part of the story of his life. He was well loved and made friends anywhere he went, carrying himself with a warmth and openness that drew people in. Friendly, helpful, fun, and silly, he had a boisterous spirit and was known as a loud talker who brought energy wherever he was. He got along with people of every age, from the young to the old, and had a special ease with seniors. Above all, he was a loving son who called his mom every day to check in, a simple and steady act that spoke deeply of his heart.
For most of his working life, Ricardo was a cook, spending many years in various bars and restaurants in Golden and the surrounding area. In those kitchens and dining rooms, he became well known and loved. For the last six years, he worked in the towing industry as a truck driver, where he was equally appreciated. In both lines of work, he was known as someone who was friendly, dependable, and always willing to help.
Ricardo found joy in the things he loved most. He was an ardent fisherman who enjoyed casting a line in Georgetown, Granby, and all across Colorado. He was also a devoted Raiders fan, proudly holding that loyalty even in a family full of Broncos fans, a detail that surely brought plenty of spirited conversation and laughter over the years. He was a member of a motorcycle club and loved riding his Harley Davidsons. His family knew how proud he was of his kids and of his bikes, the people and passions that meant so much to him.
He was also known as “Pa,” a name that reflected one of the roles he cherished most. He learned to be a great grandpa, and that title became another expression of his love, his humor, and his generous way with others. Ricardo’s presence was large, loving, and unforgettable, and the many people whose lives he touched will remember the kindness he offered so freely.
Ricardo is survived by his wife, Rosanna Valadez; his children, Zach Valadez, Ceara Munoz, Alya Hernandez, Miranda Hernandez, Selena Hernandez, Anna Valadez, and Taylynn Valadez; and his grandchildren, Izayah Munoz, Paxsun Torres, Isabella Hernandez, Ariela Munoz, and Nico Hernandez. He is also survived by his mother, Jennie Valadez; his father, Ricardo Valadez Sr.; and his sister, Rebecca Valadez. Each of them carries forward memories of his laughter, his voice, his loyalty, and the deep love he had for his family.
He was preceded in death by his son, Cody Valadez.
Ricardo will be remembered with love for the way he showed up for others, for the friendships he made everywhere he went, and for the unmistakable spirit he brought into every room. His life was filled with family, hard work, laughter, motorcycles, fishing, and a heart always ready to help. He leaves behind a lasting place in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
