Listen to Obituary

Dick was born June 9, 1936 in Herman, Nebraska.  He was raised in Mead and Decatur, Nebraska by his parents, Les and Bernice Schneider alongside his sister, JoAnn, who was four years older.

Dick's father owned a grocery store in Mead and was also the Fire Chief and Mayor of the town.  His civic engagement informed much of his kids' upbringing.

Dick attended high school in Decatur, and it was in high school that he met Janet Anderson, who would become his wife.  They were married for over fifty years.  In 1953 they welcomed a son, Richard Jr., and in 1955, the family grew again with the addition of their daughter, Jan.

After attending the police academy in Lincoln, Nebraska in 1959, Dick served as a police officer for five years.  In 1964 he moved his family to Denver where he began working as a Special Agent for the Burlington Northern Railroad.  He worked for Union Pacific Railroad from 1969 until his retirement in 1993.

He was preceded in death by his dear wife, Janet.  Dick is survived by his children, Rick (Carol) and Jan (Rick), as well as grandchildren Lindsay, Ashley and Jason and three great grandchildren, Cole, Noah and Tony.

Dick will be missed, but always fondly remembered.
