Richard Thomas Lansing, born June 17, 1936, in Denver, Colorado, passed away peacefully at his residence on June 14, 2025. Richard’s journey was marked by a love for the mountains, service to his country in the United States Marine Corps, deep community connections through his church, and joy in the relationships he held with family and friends.
Throughout his career at Gates Rubber Company, where he served faithfully for 33 years, Richard exhibited a commitment to excellence. Later, during the long winter months of retirement, he enjoyed snow birding in his beloved Truth or Consequences, New Mexico.
Richard’s engaging personality was a kaleidoscope of humor and storytelling; he had a gift for turning ordinary moments into extraordinary tales, drawing everyone around him into the heartwarming tapestry of his life experiences. Christmas held a special place in his heart; the season embodies the gift of giving that he relished so much. His appreciation of music led him to join the church choir, where he was a dedicated member for many years. From nurturing his cherished hobby of stamp collecting to expressing his creativity with model trains, feeding the birds and squirrels, and caring for the beautiful flowers in his yard, Richard delighted in so many of the simple things in life.
Richard is survived by his son, Todd, and daughter-in-law, Denise; his brother, Donald, and sister-in-law, Kay; his niece, Kimberly; his first wife, Judith; and his partner, Margery Girtin. Richard was blessed with six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Richard is preceded in death by his father, LeRoy; his mother, Ethel; his second wife, Lou-Ellen, and his son Daniel.
As we reflect upon Richard’s life, we celebrate a man who genuinely cherished every moment, embraced tradition, and left an indelible mark on our hearts.
