Richard Lee Simmons, Sr. "Big Daddy", 74, of Denver, passed away March 22, 2015.
He was born October 18, 1940 in Pueblo, Colorado, the son of Henry and Thelma (Smith) Simmons. He was a graduate of Central High School.
Richard is survived by his children, Angela Simmons Johnson, Richard Lee (Renada Linnear) Simmons Jr., Brenda Lee Simmons and step-son, Michael Anthony Ortiz, Sr.; ten grandchildren, Jazmine Ceasar, Antwon L. Harbin, Richard A. (Danielle) Harbin, Austin T. Harbin, Terrence Simmons, Javonn Linnear, Tierra L. Simmons, Alayshia M. Ortiz, Tony D. Ortiz, and Heaven Ortiz; three great-grandchildren; Ex-wife/friend, Julia B. Simmons-Mason; sister, Velma Davie; two brothers, Benny (Delores) Simmons Sr., and Robert Simmons, Sr. and a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by Father, Henry James Simmons; Mother, Thelma (Smith) Simmons; brother, Charles Henry Simmons; sisters-in-law, Chris Simmons and Julie Mae Simmons; and grandchild, Michael Anthony Ortiz, Jr.
