Richard G. Prior, 86, of 14233 East Idaho Drive, Aurora, Colorado, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday morning, January 11, 2014.
Born in Bradford, Pennsylvania on August 22, 1927, he was a son of Henry James and Grace Dunn Prior. He was a 1945 graduate of Bradford Area High School. Upon graduation from high school, he entered the Navy and served in World War II. After being honorably discharged from the Navy in 1946, he attended Bryant Stratton Business School in Buffalo, New York, where he graduated in 1948. After graduation, he worked for Bovaird & Seyfang, South Penn Oil Company and then Forest Oil Corporation, where he worked for 30 years before his retirement in 1986. He was an emeritus life associate of the National Association of Accountants.
He was married to his loving bride, Rose Bennett, for over 61 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Julia Prior, of Aurora, Colorado; a son, James Prior, of Westerville, Ohio, and his wife, Kelly; three grandchildren, Caroline, Courtney and Cameron Prior of Westerville, Ohio; a sister, Joanne Smith, of Gibsonia, Pennsylvania; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his half-sister, Gloria Goodmote; and his brother, John Prior.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 18, at 11:00 a.m. at the Mississippi Avenue Baptist Church in Aurora Colorado. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of the donor's choice.
