Richard D. "Dick" Troeger, 87, of Highlands Ranch, passed away January 22, 2017.
He was born May 14, 1929 in Squaw Grove Township, Illinois, the son of Earl and Gertrude (Poile) Troeger.
He was a graduate of Sycamore High School in Sycamore, Illinois.
Richard honorably served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was also a member of the VFW Post 2461 and the UA Local 208 Pipefitters, both in Denver.
On Labor Day Weekend 1966, he married Helen Bender .
Dick's #1 hobby was being a grandfather to any child who he always had a cookie for. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, working with his hands, and hiking. He loved to watch Western movies. He liked to dance and tell a good story. He will be remembered as a jokester. Richard was always smiling, no matter how hard things were for him. He felt strongly about using people's names and always worked to find out who you were and what your name was.
Richard is survived by five children, Linda (Robert) Salomon, Ron (Karla) Troeger, Scott A. (Susan) Troeger, Tracy (Patrick Donahue) Troeger and Rick (Debbie) Troeger; seven grandchildren, Don (fiancee Laura Birdsall) Alexander, Jeffrey Troeger, Kathryn Troeger, Courtney Anderson, Lucas Troeger, Ryan Troeger and Sydney Troeger; great-grandchild, Donnie Alexander; brother, Leon (Carol) Troeger; many nieces and nephews and Dick's Kingston Court Block Family.
He is preceded in death by wife, Helen Troeger; parents, Earl and Gertrude Troeger; daughter, Kitty Troeger; grandchild, Tristan Troeger and three brothers, Raymond, Oliver, and Hilbert Troeger.
