Rita Mae Sewald, born to Eleanor and J. Harry Sturbaum, March 23, 1933, Sterling, CO, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2014.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
A 58 year resident of Thornton, CO and a founding parishioner of Holy Cross Catholic Church. Rita volunteered her time in many capacities and as a singer with the Yester-Years Singing Group.
She is preceded in death by Earl, her loving husband of 55 years. She has 4 children, Mark Sewald (wife Susan), Dana Foss (husband Greg), Joel Sewald (wife Julie), and Lora Sewald-Cartwright. She has 9 grandchildren, Danielle, Brian, Jerome, Mathew, Nicholas, Jessica, Chad, Dustin, Amanda, and 7 great-grandchildren; Stephen, Joseph, Kolbe, Timothy, Paul, Andrew, Tatum, and Nathan. Her 6 brothers and sisters include Donald Sturbaum (deceased), Gerald Sturbaum (deceased), Marvin Sturbaum, Sharon Tindell (deceased), and Mary Ellen Urhig.
Viewing 5:00pm with Rosary recited at 7:00PM Sunday, July 20th; Funeral Mass, 9:30am Monday, July 21 all at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 9371 Wigham St., Thornton, CO followed by a burial ceremony, 11:30am, Ft. Logan National Cemetery. Map and directions to Ft. Logan will be provided Sunday evening.
A reception will be at the Riverwalk Clubhouse, 2751 West Riverwalk Circle, Littleton, CO 80123, from 12:30PM to 4:30PM Monday following the burial ceremony.
