Robert's early years were shaped by his education at St. Joseph's Catholic School and West High School in Denver, where he laid the foundation for a life characterized by dedication and an approachable spirit. His career path reflected his warm personality and commitment to service; he worked in the cafeteria at Children's Hospital before lending his hardworking nature to janitorial services at both Swedish Medical Center and Denver Health. Throughout his career, Robert forged meaningful friendships, a testament to his talkative and engaging nature.

A passionate sports fan and music lover, Robert delighted in watching the Broncos, the thrilling world of boxing, and rhythm and blues music. His leisure time often found him at the slot machines in Black Hawk, enjoying moments of lightheartedness. Equally cherished were his moments spent in the Colorado mountains, particularly in Evergreen and Idaho Springs, where he shared precious memories with his family.

Central to Robert’s life was his unwavering pride in his family. He was especially proud of his three sons: Robert Fidel Barcelona, Thomas Edward Barcelona, and Raymond Lee Barcelona. He held immense admiration for Raymond’s military service and his marriage to Gabriela, because he wouldn't be alone, as well as the steadfast work ethic exhibited by both Thomas and Robert. His devotion extended to his loving wife, Yvonne Barcelona, who fondly recalls how Robert cared tenderly for her mother during her battle with cancer when she came to live with them—an emblem of his compassion and kindness. The family’s warmth was further enriched by their loyal dog, Stella.

Robert is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Viola Julia Barcelona and John Rice Barcelona, and his brother, John Julian Barcelona. While his passing brings a profound sense of loss, the legacy of his love, laughter, and heartfelt conversations continues to resonate with all who knew him.
