Robert "Bob" Lee Jones, a man whose life was as rich and enduring as the tales he loved to tell, passed away on March 19, 2026, in Lakewood, Colorado. Born on June 4, 1947, in Denver, Colorado, Bob’s journey from a wild and rugged cowboy spirit to a devoted family man touched the hearts of everyone who knew him.

Bob graduated from Alameda High School in 1965, where he was an avid wrestler.  Right out of high school, he embraced the open-air life, working on a ranch in Parker and thrilling in bareback rodeo, embodying the true grit of a western cowboy. However, his fierce independence was balanced with a profound affection for family, eventually settling into his most cherished role as a husband, father and grandfather.

In 1967, Bob took on a new calling, joining the Local 208 Pipefitters Union, where he proudly worked as a pipefitter for his entire career. His reputation for honesty and a genuine willingness to help anyone in need left a lasting impression on colleagues and friends alike. Beyond work, Bob’s community spirit shone brightly as he served as president of the Alameda Little League Football association during the years his sons, Justin and Jason, played youth football. Additionally, Bob was a lifetime member of the Denver Elks #17, exemplifying his commitment to brotherhood and service.

At home, Bob’s western heritage flourished in the stories he shared and the love he imparted. His grandson Ty inherited his passion for the western way of life, bonding deeply with Bob over shared adventures and traditions. His granddaughter Tori delighted in baking and making pies alongside him—a special pastime that brought sweet joy to family gatherings. Thanksgiving was a highlight, as Bob lovingly crafted pies for everyone, filling homes with the warmth of his generosity.

Bob’s legacy lives on through his beloved sons, Justin Jones and his wife Paula, and Jason Jones; his adoring grandchildren, Ty, Tori, Landon, and Bailey; his sister Judi Bingman; and his brothers Dan Jones and Spike Jones as well as a sister-in-law, Kim Hendricks (Jeff). Though his beloved wife Martha Jones, sister Terry Yurick, and brother Jimmy Hines have passed before him, their memories remain cherished threads in the fabric of Bob’s life.

In every sense, Bob was a storyteller, a mentor, a community leader, and above all, a family man whose love and integrity will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew him. His journey from the dusty rodeo arenas to the quiet warmth of family kitchens reminds us all that life’s richest stories are those shared with the ones we hold dear. Bob’s spirit rides on, steadfast and true, like the enduring western skies he so loved.
