Robert “Mark” Gilliland, age 56, lived in Aurora, Colorado, where he passed away unexpectedly on January 28, 2025. Mark was born on August 19, 1968, in San Antonio, Texas, to the late Robert Matthew and Geraldine (Leismer) Gilliland. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Lisa (Ellis) Gilliland; his 2 sons Joseph and Lucas Gilliland; his 2 sisters Brenda Young and husband, James, and Teresa Poston; mother-in-law Betty (James) Ellis, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
At the young age of 17, Mark joined the US. ARMY National Guard. He dedicated 22 years of his life to serve in both Active Duty and the National Guard before retiring as a Sergeant First Class. Mark went on to work in federal service before retiring in 2021.
Mark enjoyed spending his time fishing, reading, playing games, and occasionally working or napping. He loved traveling, drinking Mountain Dew, and making people laugh. Mark was known for his light hearted nature and the joy he brought to countless people. He would undoubtedly strike-up conversations with everyone he passed, most notably in the checkout line of grocery stores. Mark will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his friends, and his work.
