Robert James Smith, Sr. was born January 24, 1934 in Dallas, Texas. He was the fourth child born to Robert Smith and Lena (Perry) Smith. Robert was raised in Dallas and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1951. He met the love of his life as a senior in high school; Emma Chance was a sophmore at the same high school and they fell in love and married December 28th, 1954. They were blessed with five children.
In 1956 Robert entered into the Armed Forces (Air Force) and served for 8 years. At the time of his discharge he and his family had relocated to Colorado. After his military days he worked for the City of Denver unitl he was hired by Trans World Airlines (TWA).
He worked as a machinist (for TWA) in various cities for the next 30 years. He retired from TWA in 1994 and moved back to Aurora, Colorado. Robert had alot of hobbies to keep him busy. He loved his Harley (motorcycle) and his Grand Prix (car) and was always putting something new and different into each of them. He also loved carpentry work and made lots of furniture.
Robert went home on May 29th, 2013 at the age of 79 years. He is preceded in death by his wife Emma of 54 years, his parents, and four siblings.
He is survived by his children: Robert Jr. (Rosemary),Broderick (Robin), La Wanda, Anthony (Kim), and Donnell (Gretchen). Seven grandchildren: La Shondra (Travis), Matthew (Roxanne), Ashli, Beau, Bayley, Kohbie, and Jessica. One great-grandchild, Alaina, and a host of other family and friends.
