Robert Martin

April 29, 1964 — January 25, 2014

Robert George Martin, 49, of Aurora, Colorado, passed away at home Saturday, January 25, 2014.

Robert was born April 29, 1964 in Denver, Colorado to Raymond and Lucille (Glanz) Martin. He was known to family and friends as "Bob". He was also known as "Bobby" in his younger years, and, to a few, still is. Bob was the youngest of eight children and lived in Aurora, Colorado. Growing up, he attended St. Matthew Lutheran Church. He was baptized and confirmed there. Bob also attended Aurora Public Schools from Kindergarten through 12th Grade. He graduated from Aurora Central High School in 1982. Bob married Kathi Buffington in July 1989.

Since graduating high school, Bob held several different types of jobs. Some of these included working for a dental supply company, a mortgage company, and working as a cook. For several years he was employed at Eastside Radiator shop in Aurora. In his latest occupation, Bob worked as a government employee for the City of Aurora for more than ten years. He worked in the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Open Space as well as Maintenance Services in the Department of Operations. Bob was a very dependable, hard worker who was praised by every employer and supervisor that he ever worked under. He loved working for the City of Aurora. He was an advocate for supporting his local community. Bob was very proud to hold a job working for the city in which he had grown up and lived his entire life.

Three things Bob enjoyed most in life were his pets, riding his motorcycle and watching sports. He was quite proud of his Harley Davidson and gleamed with pride as he showed it off to everyone he could. He was an avid fan of all the local sports teams including the Denver Nuggets, the Colorado Avalanche, the Colorado Rockies, and, especially the Denver Broncos. He was also a Nebraska Cornhusker fan, but, of all the sports he enjoyed so much, none could match his love of NASCAR Racing.

Bob is survived by two brothers and two sisters-in-law: David & Kathleen Martin, and William & Michele Martin all of Aurora, Colorado. He is survived by four sisters and one brother-in-law: Deborah Martin, Kathleen Martin, Raeann Stover, all of Aurora, Colorado, and Renee & Kevin Drake of Lone Tree, Colorado. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Bob is preceded in death by his wife, Kathi (Buffington) Martin, parents, Raymond and Lucille Martin, brother, Richard Martin, and brother-in-law, Larry Stover.

Bob was the baby of the family. He will be deeply missed. He holds a special place in the hearts of those who will miss him most; brothers and sisters and nieces and nephews.

The family will hold a private memorial service at a later time.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to Denver Dumb Friends League.
