Robert Lee Scherbarth

Robert Lee Scherbarth, 91, of Aurora, Colorado passed away May 1, 2017 at his home. Bob was born on August 8, 1925 in Hay Springs, Nebraska to parents Ernest C. and Margerita V. (Baker) Scherbarth.
He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years Nellie Scherbarth whom he married September 12, 1947. Robert was a loving father to Lorraine L. Young, Ernest J. Scherbarth and John E. Scherbarth; grandfather to Michael Smarr and Lisa Scherbarth; and great-grandfather to Madyson, Hunter, Annamae, Tessa Smarr Lace, Milo Vasicek.
Robert enlisted in the United States Army February 20, 1945 and was stationed in Manila, Philippines in the 568th Air Engr.Squad where he served his country and was Honorably Discharged on November 30, 1946.
Robert and Nellie married on September 12, 1947 and started building their family together.
He enjoyed and treasured numerous activities: fishing, hunting, reloading gun shells, working in the garden, family reunions and reading. Most of all Robert loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and having the opportunity to enjoy playing cards with all of them.
