Robert Ross Steiger, 80, of Denver, Colorado, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 3, 2024, with his beloved wife, Carol, by his side, on the final day of their Alaskan cruise.
Born on September 29, 1943, to Leonard Steiger and Shirley Deagan in Seattle, Washington, Robert dedicated his life to his family and faith. He married Carol Jungck in 1966 and they lovingly raised four daughters: Danette, Sandra, Tamarah, and Karena.
A man of deep faith, Robert turned his life over to God at 18 and became a guiding light for others, sharing his faith. His adventurous spirit was reflected in his last name, Steiger, which means "climber."
In 1965, Robert chose to enlist into the Army before being drafted, seeking to have a say in where he served. He was active Army for 3 years and served in Vietnam for a year in the 173rd Airborne Brigade as an E-5 Sergeant paratrooper and casualty reporting specialist. His bravery earned him the Bronze Star for going above and beyond the call of duty and for his exceptional service.
Throughout his life, Robert worked diligently to provide for his family, often juggling multiple jobs while enjoying a successful career in sales. He was cherished for his kindness, love of life, and ability to connect with everyone he met.
Robert is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Carol; his four daughters, Danette (Marcus Garcia) of Centennial, CO, Sandra (Benjamin Button) of Lakewood, CO, Tamarah (Christopher Penk) of Lakewood, CO, and Karena Steiger of Aurora, CO; ten grandchildren, Brandon Salazar, Larissa Salazar (Dominic Alvarado), Rachel Zamora (Dillon Zamora), Caleb Button, Elyse Button, Ila Button, Luke Button, Rebekah Penk, Joel Penk, and Natalie Penk; and three-and-a-half great-grandchildren, Lamar Alvarado, Lillith Alvarado, Dionysus Alvarado, and Adeline Zamora.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Susan Ann.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate Robert's life, where family and friends will gather to honor the remarkable legacy he leaves behind.
Robert’s warmth, loving spirit, and adventurous nature will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him.
