Ronald Carpenter, 76, of Westminster, passed away on August 21, 2017.
He was born in Clay Center, Kansas, son of Clinton and Hazel (Eckel) Carpenter. He was raised on a farm outside of Wakefield, Kansas until the family moved to Colorado in 1956. He was a graduate of Westminster High School in Westminster, Colorado. He served four years in the United States Air Force. On May 31, 1960 he married Barbara Millang.
For many years, Ronald had been actively involved in the Antique Auto Club of America (AACA), Oakland-Pontiac Worldwide and Pontiac-Oakland International (POCI). He just recently received the Murphy Sloan Award from Oakland-Pontiac Worldwide for his devoted service in support of the education, restoration and preservation of the Oakland and Pontiac Marque.
Ronald always filled his time with helping fellow car club members with their questions and restoring their cars. He always had many projects in the works to keep busy. Even though he was ill, Ronald still reproduced mascot radiator caps for the club and continued to tinker with his cars.
He enjoyed taking care of the many cats in the neighborhood. He would never let them go hungry and always provided them with a warm place to sleep.
Ronald is survived by his wife, Barbara Carpenter; two sons, Shawn (Michelle) Carpenter and Chris (Sheryl) Carpenter; two brothers, Douglas Carpenter and Larry (Sally) Carpenter; and two grandchildren Brian Carpenter and Breanna (Zachary) Smith.
He is preceded in death by Father, Clinton Carpenter; Mother, Hazel Carpenter; and sister, Faralee Ballard.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Antique Auto Club of America (AACA) Library and Research Center in Ronald's name. Information on how to donate can be found at http://www.aacalibrary.org.
