Ron passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2012. He was preceded in death by his dad, Marvin and his sister, Karen.
He is survived by Sally, his wife, 3 daughters, Kimberly, Kala and Krista, son-in-law, Christopher, 8 grandchildren, Tyler, Katilyn and Alyssa Thornton, Dillon, Benjamin and Molly Rau and Erika and Kyra Haan. He is survived by his mother, Ardith Kenny and brothers, David, Stanley, Richard, and George Kenny.
Ron was born in Yuma, CO. His family moved to Denver when he was about 2 years old. He lived in Southwest Denver all of his childhood days and broke in 3 brand new schools, Gust Elementary, Kepner Junior High and Lincoln High School. During his high school years he played trumpet in the band and marched in Denvers All City Bands and worked at Dependable Cleaners.
He and Sally were childhood sweethearts, both attending Gethsemane Baptist Church. They were marrried at Gethsemane on October 9, 1965.
Ron served in the Army and without hesitation went to Vietnam to serve his country. As a SP4 he was assigned to the communications platoon, Headquarters, 2nd Brigade, 1st Air Cavalry Division keeping helicopter radios in operating order. He was honorably discharged in 1971.
Ron worked for 35 years with Public Service Company now known as X-Cell Energy as an electric tester. He retired in 2001.
Over the years Ron enjoyed motorcycles, playing golf and outdoor activities. Ron and Sally raised three beautiful, well-adjusted, independent and caring daughters. He walked three beautiful girls down the aisle and watched as 8 wonderful grandchildren came into his life to love and cherish.
He fought hard the past seven years after having a heart attack and then being diagnosed with lung diease. The time spent in chemo and radiation treatment were a challenge but he got through it and then fought some more to keep on going through the years of continued medications and oxygen therapy.
