Ronald D. Sorrell, 76, passed away on January 10, 2015 at his home in Aurora, Colorado.
Ron served his country proudly in the United States Air Force for 27 years until retirement—12 years active duty and 15 years in the Air Force Reserves. He was honorably discharged as a Senior Master Sergeant. In his civilian career, Ron worked with Motorola and was integral in the rollout of modern telecommunication technologies throughout California and Arizona.
Ron had three passions in his life—the military, his family and the Denver Broncos. He was an aficionado of classic rock and the blues. He also enjoyed cooking, especially Cajun and BBQ. Ron will be remembered by those who knew him well as a supportive husband, father and grandfather, and as a generous friend. Ron also took great pleasure in telling colorful tales of his life. He was a spirited man with a mischevious sense of humor who always spoke his mind—as such.
Ron is survived by his wife, Joree Curtis and his children: Charla Curtis and Judy Lovin of Ardmore, PA; Jan and Sam Mazotti of Centennial, CO; Laurie Fuchsgruber of Aurora, CO; Kevin Pepin of Thornton, CO; and Charlene West of Arizona. He is survived by eight grandchildren: Sara and Megan Fuchsgruber; Rachel and Skyla Mazotti; Austin Pepin and Christy Kuipers; Bennie Palko-Herrera and Shelby Palko. He is also survived by his sister, Delores Westlake, and nephew, Chuck Westlake, of Davie, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his name to the Wounded Warriors Project at https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org/default.aspx?tsid=72.
Memorial services with military honors will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon on Tuesday, January 20th at the East Metro Chapel located at 190 Potomac Street, Aurora, Colorado 80011.
