Rosemary, age 95, passed away on Monday, May 20, 2013 in Denver, CO.
Rosemary was born on October 3, 1917 in Winterset, Iowa.
Rosemary is survived by her son & daughter in law, Aaron & Beth Givan; daughter, Sharon Williams; sister Betty (William) Godbey, stepdaughters Andrea (Mike) Schmidt; Susan (Lynn) Tyler; and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Rosemary graduated from Winterset High School in 1935. She then taught school in a one room rural school having nine grades and 31 students. This lasted until June 1940.
On June 1, 1940 Rosemary married John Franklin Givan. In 1942 they moved to Baltimore, MD where she worked for the Social Security Board, while John Givan was in the army.
In 1946 the couple moved to Denver, CO. In 1953 Rosemary started work at a suitcase manufacturer. Twenty five years later she retired as an inspection supervisor.
Rosemary was widowed February 24, 1975.
On October 8, 1977 she married John Henry Tongish. They enjoyed 31 years together, gardening, fishing and hunting, as well as active church involvement.
Rosemary also enjoyed playing the piano and organ at Gethsemane Baptist Church. Her wish is to make a lasting memorial contribution to their Missionary Fund, instead of flowers at her funeral.
