Ruby Irene Hankel, 88, of Wheat Ridge, passed away December 1, 2015.
She was born December 13, 1926 in Denver, Colorado, the daughter of Ronald and Sylvia (Davis) Dunston. Ruby was born in Colorado, and had a brother and sister. On April 6, 1947 she married Robert Hankel in Denver, CO.
Ruby and her husband, Bob, were in the restaurant business for over 50 years. They were members of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lakewood, Colorado, for over 60 years.
She was very involved in church ministries, including Lutheran Women's Missionary League, Mary and Martha, and Bible study groups. Ruby bowled, golfed, and enjoyed watching the Broncos and the Rockies. She loved to travel, sew, and crochet. Ruby and Bob traveled the world with family and friends.
Ruby and Bob lived in Wheat Ridge in various homes, the last home being at 7135 W. 29th Place for over 50 years. Ruby had a good sense of humor, could be ornery, and hosted many parties with Bob. She was beautiful, joyous, faithful, giving, hard-working, funny Bunny. Ruby is loved by family and friends.
She is survived by Son, Kevin L. Hankel; Daughter, Cindy Lynn (Dan) Gustafson; Grandson, Eli F. Sandoval; Granddaughter, Sara R. (Kyle) Johnson; Great-Granddaughter, Hannah Claire Johnson; Great-Grandson, Lukas Kieran Johnson; Sister, Thelma Carrillo, and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, Robert W. Hankel, Grandson, Nathan Isaac Hankel, Great Grandson, Alex T Sandoval, Brother, Jimmy Dunston.
