Rudolph Julius Gomez

Rudolph Julius Gomez, of Denver, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday evening, September 15, 2026, in Lakewood.

Mr. Gomez was born on May 27, 1937, in Longmont, Colorado to his parents, Salvador and Jenny (Valdez) Gomez.  He came from a large family and had several siblings.  The family relocated to Chicago, Illinois when Rudy was a child.  He attended Grade School and Trade School in Chicago.

Rudy answered the call to serve his county with the United States Army at a young age. He officially enlisted and was honorably discharged after one day!

After trade school, Rudy found work as a Millwright and worked for Wisconsin Steel for over 21 years.  Concurrently, he also worked as a Security Supervisor for the Field Museum of Natural History, in Chicago, where he met many heads of state, politicians, musicians, artists of all kinds, actors and actresses and many other famous personalities as well as folks from all walks of life.  He retired from his position as a millwright and continued on at the museum until ultimately retiring from that position as well.  At that time, he and his wife Louise, relocated to Denver, where there resided happily, near their son, Sal and daughter, Pam.  

In Rudy's off time, he loved to go camping and had one of the only campers in his neighborhood at the time.  He also loved to hunt, fish and was an avid bowler, winning many trophies for his skill in the sport.  When Rudy wasn't relaxing with one of his favorite pastime activities, he could be found helping his friends, neighbors and family members with any and all projects they may have needed help with or anything that needed repairing.  The most important love in his life was his wife, Louise and his children and family.  He was a devoted husband, and a caring father.

Rudy was a member of the New Hope Ministries Church and worshipped there with his family throughout his time living in Denver.

Rudy came from a large, loving family and is survived by his children, Salvador Gomez, of Lakewood, Pamela (Michael) Ortega of Lakewood and Rosalie (Gregory) Buenrostro of Villa Park, Illinois, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, two sisters, Christina and Mary, six brothers, Raymond, Manuel, Frank, Martin, Joseph and Fred; a host of other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Louise Anna (Surita) Gomez, several siblings and other relatives.

A viewing, services and burial for Rudy will be on Thursday, October 1, 2026, beginning at 10 am in the Sanctuary of New Hope Ministries Church, 875 S. Sheridan Blvd., Lakewood, with the family present.  The funeral service will begin at 11:00 am at the Church.  The burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 12801 W. 44th Ave., Wheat Ridge, at 1 pm.  Rudy will be laid to rest with his beloved wife, Louise, who passed away in 2025.
