Rufina Maria Archuleta

Rufina Archuleta was born Feb 12, 1930 to Juan Delacruz Esquibel and Requilda Gallegos in the town of Llano Largo New Mexico. She was an only child and lost her mother at the young age of 3 years old. Her father was left to raise her on his own, he was a loving father and grandfather and raised her to be the wonderful mother and grandmother to all of her children.

Rufina only completed the second grade but through prayer (she used to pray to God to help her to learn) and determination she taught herself to read and write in both English and Spanish.

She married at the age of 14 years old to Selestino Archuleta and had her first child at 15, they had 10 children together and raised them in Wattenburg, Colorado. She loved all of her children and grandchildren and took joy in trying to count them all in her later days.

She loved flowers, Spanish music, dancing and feeding all of her babies.
