Sadie Bertina Stanley, of Rapid City, SD, passed away peacefully, in her Daughters home in Colorado, Wednesday, August 29, 2012, one day before her 100th birthday. She was a wonderful Mother, Wife and Friend, always a steadfast Christian and she will be missed.
She was born August 30, 1912 in Ashton, SD to Walter Marion Amburn and Anna Louise Lendtvedt. She attended High School in Sturgis, SD.
She was married to Virgil Titus Stanley on January 12, 1933 in Sturgis. Sadie and Virgil started a family, and they were blessed with nine children. The first child was Walter, then Viola, Virgil II, Gordon, Baby Bobby, Gerald, Donald, Barbara and Cheryl. There were also many friends of the family, welcomed into her home, which were unofficially adopted members of her family. Don Hayes, the Mechling boys, Bob Hora and Nancy Stanley, to name a few. Guiding them all with good values and nurturing them with good food.
Sadie and Virgil spent many years with joy and happiness, as each child grew, married and began families of their own. Sadie and Virgil were again blessed with 23 grandchildren, and countless great, and great, great grandchildren. It all began with a love that lasted 79 wonderful years. Through tough times, good times and a deep devotion to Our Lord Jesus Christ, life has been a circle complete.
One son, Gerald and three daughters Viola, Barbara and Cheryl survive Sadie. Her Husband, Virgil T. Stanley, and five Sons, Walter, Virgil, Gordon, Bobby, and Don Stanley precede her in death.
Memorial services will be held at First Christian Church 730 Quincy St., in Rapid City, SD at 2:00 PM, on September 30th, 2012.
