Sally Trujillo, affectionately known as "Aunty," passed away peacefully on November 12, 2025, in Westminster, Colorado, surrounded by her beloved family. Born on October 25, 1923, in Walsenburg, Colorado, Sally lived a life that was rich in love and laughter, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
For an impressive 39 years, Sally dedicated herself to the culinary delights at the Brown Palace, where she had the distinguished honor of preparing meals for high-profile guests, including The Beatles, numerous presidents, and various movie stars. Her expertise in creating exquisite salads was only rivaled by her passion for cooking for her family and friends, always ensuring that no one ever left her home hungry. Sally's house was a warm haven, where gatherings bloomed with the aromas of freshly made tortillas, cakes, and sweet rice, drawing everyone together in joyful celebration.
Known for her ornery yet lovable personality, Sally was a queen among her family and friends. Her feisty spirit, generous heart, and ability to bring fun and silliness into every occasion made her truly remarkable. Beyond her culinary skills, she was a beacon of kindness and hospitality, welcoming family to her home with open arms. A physically strong woman, Sally embraced life with motivation, frequently seen enjoying her walks and engaging in crafts and games during her time in the nursing home. Her delightful conversations on the phone will be sorely missed by those who had the pleasure to share those moments with her.
Sally leaves behind her dear son Richard (Voney) and son-in-law Timothy, along with her cherished grandchildren Timothy (Taryn), Robert (Kelly), Richard Jr., Tracey, Charisa, Amy, Tiffany, and Angelina. She also adored her great-grandsons David and Nathan, and her great-granddaughters Sarah and Emily, who all brightened her life tremendously. A loving sister to Vi (LeRoy), her family circle remained strong, deeply rooted in the bonds she nurtured throughout her life.
Sally is reunited in spirit with her parents, Porfilio and Andrellita Trujillo, her beloved daughter Karen, and her siblings Mary, Mike, Bob, Lloyd, Frances, Rose, Lucille, and Bernice. Each of these individuals held a special place in her heart, and their memories lived on through her stories and laughter.
As we remember Sally Trujillo, we celebrate a life well-lived—a life characterized by her love for family, her passion for food, and her unwavering spirit. She taught us the importance of gathering, of kindness, and of joy in simple moments. Sally will forever be cherished and remembered by all whose lives she touched.
