Sammy Joe Casaus, a man whose vibrant spirit touched many, passed away on April 7, 2026, in Denver. Born on April 18, 1978, in Pueblo.  He was known for his artistic nature and his infectious humor.

Though school never truly captured his interest, Sammy found his own unique path. He was a jokester at heart, always ready with a quip or a playful clowning around, yet beneath his lighthearted exterior was a profound honesty and integrity that those who knew him deeply appreciated.

Sammy’s love for creativity manifested in his passion for painting and drawing, pursuits that allowed him to express the depths of his soul in ways words could not. His artistic spirit was a beacon of light in the lives of those around him.

Professionally, Sammy took great pride in his work at The Western Complex, where he was immersed in the excitement of Monster Truck shows and the infamous Denver Stock Show. He reveled not only in the work itself—warehouse duties and event setup—but in sharing these experiences with his beloved son, often bringing him along to soak up the thrill of the shows. His devotion to his son was his proudest accomplishment; fatherhood, though unexpected, became Sammy’s greatest joy and source of pride.

Sammy was cherished for all that he was—his strengths and vulnerabilities alike. His warmth, humor, and honesty left a mark on the hearts of family and friends.

He is lovingly remembered by his mother, Kathleen Salazar; his son, Sammy Casaus, Jr.; his sister, Thomasina Casaus; his brother, Zeno Casaus; and his nieces and nephews—Risa Casaus, Zachary Casaus, Eliza Casaus, and Zena Casaus—as well as his great-nephews, Anizeto Casaus and Juan Mendoza.

Sammy was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Joe Casaus, Jr., and by Antoinette Trujillo, the mother of his son.

Though he is no longer with us, the laughter, love, and creativity Sammy brought into this world will remain a treasured legacy for all who had the privilege to know him.
