Samuel James Howard Jr.

Samuel James Howard Jr. passed away peacefully on September 22, 2026 in Aurora, Colorado.

The son of Samuel James Howard Sr. and Mary Louise Coleman Howard, Sam was born on April 23, 1949 in Lynchburg, Virginia and grew up in Washington, D.C. Sam proudly served his country in the United States Army. He moved to Colorado in 1978 for a new job opportunity and also spent several years in the Colorado National Guard. Sam was incredibly fortunate to meet Dorothy Fogle in 2009 and they were married August 7, 2011. Together they found new joy and new adventures.

He was a beloved member of Temple Sinai since 2011 and former security guard of Temple Sinai for nearly fifteen years.

Sam is survived by his beloved wife, Dorothy Howard. His children, Christopher Preston Howard (Brenda), Lisa Howard, and Kalika Howard White (Brandon), stepchildren Craig Fogle (Briana) and Lachanda Fogle. His grandchildren, Raechel Fogle, Brandon White Jr. and Kameron White. He is also survived by his younger brother, Gregory Howard and sisters, Louise A. Howard Chinn, and Sylvia Howard Graves, and his beloved aunt, Brenda Stone Butler. Sam is also survived by a host of family members and friends.

Sam took great pride in his Jewish faith, which he discovered and embraced for himself because of his relationship with Temple Sinai.
