On the morning of May 12th 2016 heaven welcomed another angel. At 75 years old, Sandra "Sandy" Anne Crist took her last breaths surrounded and comforted by family members at The Denver Hospice in Denver Colorado. She was welcomed home by her beloved parents Harry Bergman and Freida Sladovnick Bergman and her husband, Richard Crist . Sandy is survived by 2 sisters, Shelly and Betty, her brother, Avie, 4 children, Tammy, Kellie, Rick, and Clay, 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Sandy was a native of Denver Colorado, born on July 18th 1940. She Graduated from West High School. Sandy grew up going to the skating rink every saturday night with her sisters, cousins and friends. She was a quiet and intelligent young girl who enjoyed observing those around her.
As Sandy grew it became apparent that she had a passion for helping others. An unconditional love for children morphed into her becoming a Daycare Teacher for numerous years. A job she had a special gift for along with a deep love of. Her instinctive understanding of people and her infinite patience allowed her to nurture many children over her lifetime.
That nurturing did not stop for the young kids she taught either. Known by many, beginning with her little brother, as the "Little Mama". Sandy's life was devoted to her family. She always had a place for you in her home and she went out of her way to ensure that everyone around her always had what they needed, whether she had it to give or not. Family and friends were Sandy's' passion and her delight.
Sandy's favorite hobby was reading. She traveled the world through Stephen King, Dean Koontz, James Patterson, and Patricia Cornwell. She loved reading to her children and her grandchildren, sharing her love for the written word with those she cared for most.
Sandy's life was one filled with a deep love of people that was impossible not to return. She was a shining light you could always count on being there for you even in the darkest of times. A light that will be sorely missed by us all.
Services to honor Sandy's life are being held by Newcomer Funeral Home at 190 Potomac St. Aurora, CO. 80011 on Friday May 20th, 2016 at 3pm. Flowers and donations are being accepted by the funeral home.
