Sandra “Sam” Hines passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at the age of 73. Born on December 23, 1953, in San Diego, California, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Irene Blackburn.
Sam built a life marked by dedication, creativity, and care for others. She graduated from Hinckley High School in 1977 and continued her education with an associate degree in industrial chemistry, as well as both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in cosmetology. Her professional life reflected both her skill and her love for helping people feel their best. She managed a salon and taught cosmetology in Parker, Colorado, sharing her knowledge and experience with others. She later served as a receptionist for the Denver Country Club, where she worked faithfully for 30 years before retiring.
In 1986, Sam married Dennis Hines, and together they shared many years of marriage and companionship. Outside of work, she found joy in the hobbies she loved most. Sewing, quilting, crocheting, and beading were among her favorite pastimes, and these creative pursuits reflected the patience, warmth, and artistry she carried throughout her life.
Sam will be deeply missed by those who survive her, including her husband, Dennis Hines; her brothers, Russell Blackburn and his wife, Theresa, and Dennis Blackburn; as well as two nieces, two nephews, two great-nieces, and two great-nephews. She also carried in her life the memory of those who went before her. In addition to her parents, Irene and Russell Blackburn, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Michell Getchell; her nephew, Russell Blackburn Jr.; and her niece, Melissa Hines.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on October 7, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, East Metro, 190 Potomac St, Aurora, Colorado 80011.
