Santiago "Jim" Cortez, 71, of Lakewood, passed away November 2, 2017.
He was born April 14, 1946 in Costilla, New Mexico, the son of Amarante Cortez and Josefita Cortez Phillips.
He was a graduate of South High School in Pueblo, CO and served in the Vietnam War.
Jim was a lifelong Brick Mason and a wonderful father. His passion was fishing in his spare time. Jim was very loving and giving to all that he met.
He is predeceased by his parents, Josefita (Cortez) Phillips and Amarante Cortez.
Jim is survived by his children, Santiago "JJ" (Desiree) Cortez, Shannon (Lee) Padrick, Marcelline Cortez, Clinton Cortez and Nathan Cortez; stepchildren, Hadear (Joe Sanchez II) Shafei-Sanchez and Summer Shafei; grandchildren, Mariah, Dominique, Angelique, Jamison, Adrian, Luis and JoJo; brothers and sisters, Nora Martinez, Eulalia Aragon, Amarante J. (Rose) Cortez, Jr. and Leroy (Beverly) Cortez and many nieces, nephews and extended family along with a host of friends.
