Sharlene M. Jeffries, 69, of Aurora, passed away April 16, 2015.
She was born November 8, 1945 in Honolulu, Hawaii, the daughter of Eloy and Dolores (Correa) Birtodaso.
Sharlene was a graduate of Leilehua High School in Oahu, Hawaii.
On June 14, 1987 she married Raymond Jeffries, Jr., of Roanoke, Virginia.
Sharlene positively touched the lives of many; she was a charming, strong, loving and loyal wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all she met.
When Raymond Jr. first saw his (future) wife in a crowded room, he couldn't keep his eyes off of her for she was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. From the moment he kissed her hand, she captivated his heart forever with her charm. For him, their love for each other has been magical.
Sharlene was diagnosed with breast cancer and had been in remission since 2002. Her daughter Pualani recalled a time when she was so in awe of her mother for choosing to leave a family vacation alone to fly home for an exhausting chemotherapy treatment and flew back alone to join the family again. Her mother's physical and mental perseverance, along with her devotion to family will forever impress upon her the value of strength.
Many can attest to the kindness Sharlene showed to those around her. She didn't think twice about opening up her heart and home to someone that needed a place to stay, food to eat, or a shoulder to lean on. She didn't complain or look for something in return when she gave because she sincerely and lovingly gave (of herself) to help others.
She worked for HSS Security at the Denver International Airport. She began her 21 years in security as a guard, then a supervisor, and then a scheduler. She was meticulous in her work, her professional appearance; she was successful and fulfilled and wanted the same for her co-workers who she considered her second family. Just as with her immediate family, Sharlene did not hesitate to "tell it like it is" if, in the long run, it made that person better at his/her job or in life. Yes, some may say she was "hard or tough" on them, but one thing for certain, regardless of the person's job title, Sharlene treated everyone fairly.
The statement of a beautiful person inside and out truly speaks of who Sharlene was and how many will remember her.
Sharlene is survived by her husband, Raymond Jeffries, Jr.; children: Kanani Estonilo, Michael (Linh) Jeffries, Raymond D. Jeffries, and Pualani R. Jeffries; seven grandchildren: Ashlynn Pilz, Adam Pilz , Kainoa Teague, Marlani Teague, Malia Buggs, Keleo Buggs, and Mailynn Jeffries; great grandchildren: Kaojonn King, Sterling King Jr., Mason King; siblings: brother, Eloy Birtodaso, Jr.; and sister, Eloise (Dave) Kemner; nieces and nephews: Elizabeth Birtodaso, Edward Birtodaso, Brad (Holly) Kemner; great grand nephew: Alexander Christopher Kemner, great grand niece: Mackenzie Elizabeth Kemner; in-laws: sister-in-law, Caron B.
