Sharon Lea Bennett, 76, died on February 26 at Swedish Medical Center, Englewood, CO.

She was born August 2, 1940 in Norton Kansas, the eldest daughter of Lloyd and Laurine (Fagg) Thalheim.

She grew up on the family farm in Stamford, NE and then Long Island, KS. She attended high school at Northern Valley High School and graduated in 1958.

On Feb 2,1961, she married Kenneth D Bennett in the parsonage of the Norton Christian Church. They renewed their vows on Sept 18, 2004. On March 3, 1966, their daughter Scherri was born and they adopted her shortly after. The couple lived all of their lives in Norton County until Kenneth was entered into Fitzsimmons Veteran's Nursing Home in Aurora, CO in October 2004. He remained there until his death on Sept 18th, 2007.

Sharon stayed in Norton until her move to Denver to be near her daughter and son-in-law in February 2011. She resided at Pearl Street Health and Rehab in Englewood, CO where she met her partner, Eugene Lilly. She then moved to Eugene's home in Denver in August 2011 where she stayed until her death.

Her hobbies included reading, watching television, writing letters and stitching, but most of her joy was in visiting with friends and family. She had a larger-than-life sense of humor that will be missed.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Kenneth; her parents; a daughter, Linda Kay; premature twin daughters; a sister-in-law, Marian Hughes; two brothers-in-law, Shorty Hughes and Richard Bennett, a nephew, Marlin Hughes and her mother and father-in-law.

She is survived by her partner, Eugene, Denver, CO; her daughter, Scherri (Bennett) and Stephen Woodard, Parker, CO; two sisters, Linda Jensen, Lenardville, KS and Kay Bose, Grand Island, NE; one brother, Don Thalheim, Ord, NE; a sister-in-law, Martha Bennett, Meriden, IA; two brothers-in-law, Conrad "Shorty" Bose and Wendell Lentz; four nephews Randy Hughes, Ron Bennett, Brian Lentz and Wade Lentz and three nieces, Jennifer Maaske, Megan Kaminski and Andra Bose.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, March 10 at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 10:30am.
