Sharon Lee Freehling, 69, returned to her heavenly home on August 27, 2016 after a brave battle with ALS. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.
Sharon was born to the late Miguel Martinez and Virginia Saylor on January 22, 1947, in Walsenburg, Colorado. Sharon was blessed with a loving family. She had multiple secretarial positions through the years but her longest was with Lucent Technologies/Avaya Communications where she retired. She married her husband Gary Lee Freehling on June 26, 1976 in Denver, Colorado. They recently celebrated their 40th anniversary this year.
Sharon was a very artistic person and enjoyed crafting, collecting teddy bears, attending teas at the Red Hat Society, and spending time with her family. She was kind and had a big heart, and always was a great friend to many and a blessing to her family. She is dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at peace resting in Gods loving arms.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Gary Freehling; her son Adam Long; her daughter Jennifer Cic (husband Cory Cic); her grandchildren Dominic Long, Kaitlyn Cic, Keli Long, and Isis Long; her great-grandchild Isaiah Long; and her brothers, Eli Martinez, and Ron Mikelson. She is preceded in death by her sister, Carol Martinez; and her parents.
Sharon's services will be held on September 6, 2016, at Newcomer Funeral Home West Metro Chapel at 901 S. Sheridan Blvd., Lakewood, Colorado. Her viewing will be at 10:00 am and the funeral will start at 11:00 am. She will be laid to rest at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 1:00 pm at 4400 W. Kenyon Avenue, Denver, Colorado.
