Shirley Anne Woods, wife of the late John Woods, passed away Sunday the 5th of August. Born on October 23, 1936 in Rockford, Illinois, the daughter of Donald and Louise Wensel, Shirley was the consummate wife, mother and friend. A long-time resident of Aurora, Colorado, she spent her years nurturing her husband and family, and being a sounding board for many friends. Shirley and Jack loved to travel, taking many cruises. She also enjoyed sending time with her family, gardening, cooking, reading, and could astonish everyone with her keen recollection of history and facts. She is survived by her children: Cheryl (Chris), Cynthia (Pat), Douglas (Cari), Michael, Steven (Susan), Daniel (Kathleen) Katherine (Greg), Gary, and John (Christy); many grandchildren and great grandchildren, who brought great joy to her. Also survived by her brother Richard (Dorothy). Visitation will be held at Newcomer East Metro Chapel, 190 N. Potomac in Aurora, on August 13th at 11:30 a.m. followed by a memorial service beginning at 12:30 p.m. Interment will take place at Fort Logan National Cemetery commencing at 2:30 p.m. The family request that any donations be sent in Shirley name to the Denver Hospice.
