Shirley Gale Moses Denny, a month short of 95, passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2016.
Shirley was born to the late George and Evadna Conley on January 12, 1922 in Grand Junction, Colorado. She graduated from South High School in Denver, Colorado, then went to the University of Denver graduating with a degree in Education.
She married Philip Moses in 1946. They resided in Denver until 1956 when they moved to Edwards AFB in California. Shirley taught school in Boron, California and at Edwards AFB before they relocated to Eglin AFB in Florida. Shirley taught elementary school in Florida. They returned to Edwards where Shirley taught and got her Master's Degree. After 43 years of teaching she retired. Shortly before retirement she was widowed. Then after retirement she married Vernon Denny and they resided in Lancaster, California. She was widowed again and moved back to Denver, Colorado 3 ½ years ago where she resided until her death.
Shirley is survived by three children: Marsha Kovach of Westminster, Colorado; Merna Martinez of Morrison, Colorado; and Garry Moses of Glendale, California. One son, George Philip Moses preceded her in death. She is also survived by one sister, Georgia McLaren of Denver, Colorado; and three stepchildren Clark Denny of Evergreen, Colorado; Gail Thompson of Columbia, Maryland; and Robin Anderson of Littleton, Colorado; 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter.
A viewing will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home from 11am to 12pm on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 followed by services at 12:00pm. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery followed by lunch at Newcomer Funeral Home.
