Stephen L. Lundine

March 31, 1942 — February 14, 2016

Stephen L Lundine passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, February 14, 2016 after a 20 year battle with Cancer. He was originally given five years to live, and spent the next twenty focused on being there for his family. Unless you knew about the cancer, you would never hear him complain about it or mention it. Many people had no idea that his struggle lasted so long.

He was born on March 31,1942 in Bayer, Nebraska to Jayne Karnes. He graduated from Gearing High School and trained to become an radio technician. He went on to work in the communication industry and for Denver International Airport for 20 years before retiring in April 1, 2015. He loved his job at the airport and enjoyed lifelong friendships with many other employees there. He is best remembered by his friends at work for his great attitude, constant smile and endless list of funny stories.

He married Janice Lundine on April 3, 1982 and together they raised their four children, Tiffiany, Morgan, Shean and Sheila. As with any other blended family, they shared in their list of ups and downs. Through it all Steve remained the ever devoted father and husband. While he had many hobbies, his true passion was his love of his wife. Their marriage lasted 29 years until his wife passed away at their home on November 26, 2011 They spent their last 15 years at their house in Aurora constantly working in their yard and spending time together outside. They are best remembered in that house constantly working to have the best yard in the neighborhood.

Steve believed in integrity, devotion and hard work. He lived his life practicing these values in all that he was a part of. Being around him was contagious. You didn't know why, you just wanted more time around him. He was constantly building projects and working for those around him. He was a selfless example of a true family man.

He is survived by his children, Tiffiany, Morgan, Shean and Sheila; sister Chris and brother Jerry; and his 13 grandchildren.

While he had many hobbies in life, he spent his last year attending the Aurora Citizen's Police Academy and volunteering with the Aurora Police Department. He was proud to be a member and constantly following law enforcement stories. This fulfilled his lifelong dream of being a part of a police department.

Rather than send flowers, Steve would prefer that any money in flowers be spent on the families of fallen officers in Colorado instead. Please send donations to either of these two families on his behalf. Steve lived a long and fulfilling life, while these families have to suffer the loss of a parent while still having small children at home. Steve would be honored for anyone to show his love and support for our law enforcement officers by donating to the families of these fallen officers.
