Steven Taylor Swihart
Born September 7, 1942 in Alexandria VA to Marian (Lille) and Albert Swihart. Graduated from Grand Island Senior High School in 1960. Graduated from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln in 1966 with a B.A. in Philosophy. Served in the US Army 1966-69. Graduated UNL Law School in 1972 and was a practicing attorney from 1972 to 1988. Served as an Administrative Law Judge with the Social Security Administration from 1988-2004 in Denver Colorado. Retired in 2004.
Survived by daughter Sarah Rosenbaum, son-in-law Kirk Rosenbaum, and grandson Roman Rosenbaum. Also survived by mother Marian Swihart, brothers Doug Swihart and Bruce Swihart (and wife Clo) of Grand Island, and friend Llondon Davis.
Steven enjoyed reading, music, Nebraska football, and was especially fond of his grandson Roman. He was a member of the Men's Gymnastics team at UNL, and a standout diver for Grand Island Swim Club. He loved comedy and the movies and enjoyed a wide circle of friends both male and female. He had a lifelong interest in philosophy, always trying to gain a sliver of wisdom from that ancient discipline.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Grand Island, Nebraska. Donations can be made in Steve's name to your local library.
