Susan Sterling Merriam , 91, of Denver, passed away January 21, 2015.
She was born September 7, 1923 in Duluth , Minnesota, the daughter of Grover and Susan (Taylor ) Sterling .
She is preceded in death by Father, Grover Cleveland Sterling, Mother, Susan Sterling, Husband, Gerald B. Merriam.
Susan Merriam is survived by her sister, Mary Elizabeth Mendoza; her three children, Michael Scott Merriam, Susan Louise Knight, and Richard Alan Merriam. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Christen Roberts, Matthew Merriam, Phillip Merriam, Jay Knight, Luke Merriam, Rianna Merriam and Sam Merriam. She is also survived by three great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her granddaughter Diane Knight.
She volunteered at least 700 hours with the Denver Dumb Friends League. She was also in the Aurora Citizens Police Academy. She was active in bowling and golf. She was an avid traveler. She was also very involved in her church, in Stephen ministries as well as active in many activities at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. She was a season ticket holder for the Aurora Fox Theatre. She was a Village East Clean-up volunteer and a Colfax Marathon volunteer.
She also performed in some plays at the Aurora Senior Center. She graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in nursing.
