Sylvia Rita Peterson

November 26, 1937 — June 7, 2025

Sylvia Rita Peterson, a cherished matriarch and beloved friend, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and kindness that will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew her. Born on November 26, 1937, in the state of Colorado, Sylvia's journey was one marked by resilience, affection, and an unwavering spirit.

A proud graduate of West High School, Sylvia embarked on a fruitful career with Kroger, where she dedicated many years as a clerk, ultimately retiring in 1999. Her work ethic and dedication were matched only by her compassion for those around her, embodying the spirit of service in every interaction. In her professional life, as in her personal life, Sylvia was known for her loving nature, welcoming demeanor, and an unyielding sense of humor that brightened the days of all who crossed her path.

To speak of Sylvia is to conjure images of family gatherings filled with laughter and joy, for family holiday dinners were nothing short of monumental events in her life. She was the glue that held her family together, creating cherished memories that will be reminisced about for generations to come. Her pride and joy lay in spending time with her family; to her, her great-grandchildren could do no wrong, and their presence filled her with immense gratitude as she reveled in watching them grow.

Sylvia had an insatiable love for adventure. She adored traveling, relishing the thrill of discovering new places and experiences. In addition, she found solace and joy in playing golf, cooking, and baking.

Sylvia is survived by her cherished son, Phillip Peterson; her grandchildren, Tiffany (Christopher) Nelson; and her adored great-grandchildren, London Lingo, Conrad Nelson, Nicholas Nelson, and Isaiah Nelson. Among her family, she leaves behind her beloved sister, Jennie Venuto, and a host of family and friends who will carry her memory in their hearts.

Preceding her in death are her dear parents, Tiodolo and Isabelle Ramos, along with an extensive lineage of thirteen siblings, all of whom have shaped the essence of who she was and who she continues to be in spirit.

While Sylvia Rita Peterson has transitioned from this life, her legacy of love and joy lives on in the many lives she touched, the families gathered around her dinner table, and the hearts that will forever cherish her memory. As we honor her life, we are reminded of her strength and determination—an invincible spirit that will not be forgotten.
