Tamela (Tammy) Renee Blount

Tamela Renee Blount began her journey November 25, 1965, to the proud parents of Mary Elizabeth Harper and Willie Lee Oliver of Akron, Ohio.

Tamela’s education was through the Akron public school system and she graduated from Firestone High School. Tamela met the love of her life Kurtiss Blount (Who she called her Rock) when the girls were a tender age of 2 & 3 during this union Tamela & Kurtiss relocated to Colorado in the year 1999. Tamela spent most of her employment years in the restaurant field as manager of various fast-food establishments and a chef at the Denver Convention Center along with supervising and managing a couple hotels establishments. Tamela loved to travel to see and experience new things. Her Rock (Kurtiss) made it a priority to plan vacations yearly and they traveled throughout the country. She loved having a good time, having family gatherings, listening to loud music, dancing, singing, eating well and cracking jokes, and of course, having a few adult beverages. Tamela and Kurtis were proud members of Mt. Moriah Baptist church where she loved listening to the word of God Sitting alongside of her 2 daughters and grandkids. She enjoyed being with the grandkids going to venues such as parks, swimming, sporting events and going to their musical events. Tamela was preceded in death by her grandmother Clary; parents, Mary Elizabeth Harper & Willie Oliver; husband Kurtiss; son Eugene Oliver; granddaughter Bre 'Asya Hunt; special aunt Clary Edwards; and very close cousins Linda and Shirly Edwards.

She is survived by daughters, Consula Oliver (Thornton, CO), Mary (John) Green (Aurora, CO); sister Eleanor Lois Oliver; brothers Leroy Oliver, Mark Oliver, and Ronnie Oliver all of Akron Ohio; brother-in-law Kevin Larkins (Aurora, CO); 6 grandsons, Kurvonte, Adonis, Brandon, Daion, and twins Legend & Legacy; 3 Granddaughters Zynia, A'mya, Hazel and great-grandson Ray, all of Colorado; and fur baby Smitty B. Very close friends Laura Hall, Julie Thompson, Deon Vinson, and Sandra Wyatt, (Ohio); along with a host of cousins and nieces.

Some women leave footprints. You left heartbeats.

From Akron, Ohio,to the mountains of Colorado, you carried more than suitcases you carried hope.

Hand in hand with Kurtiss, you built a life brick by brick, prayer by prayer, laugh by laugh, love upon love.

You became a wife,You became a mother,You became "Mega."

And somehow ,your heart kept growing until it held children, grandchildren,a great-grandchild an entire generation wrapped inside one woman's love.

You loved the music loud. The laughter louder.

A house so full that no one remembered who brought what only that everyone belonged.

And if you had something to say...

You said it.

If you believed in something...

You stood on it.

Some called you stubborn.

But mountains are stubborn.

Roots are stubborn.

Faith is stubborn.

And so were you.

Life came for you again...and again

The strokes came like waves against a shoreline, trying to wear you away.

But they never knew

they were crashing against a rock.

There was a day when the room stood still.

Machines grew quiet.

Hands reached for Heaven.

Tears began to fall.

Then...

one more heartbeat.

One more breath.

One more miracle.

God whispered,

"Not yet."

Because there were still babies who needed Mega's hugs.

Still daughters who needed their mother's strength.

Still a husband who wasn't finished holding your hand.

So you came back.

Not because life was easy.

Because love called you home to us one more time.

And when Heaven finally opened its gates,

it wasn't because you had lost the fight.

It was because you had already won it.

Now...

when your family laughs until tears fill their eyes

you're there.

When someone stands strong because giving up was never an option

you're there.

When your grandchildren love each other the way you loved them

you're there.

Because love like yours doesn't end.

It echoes.

Through every embrace.

Every prayer.

Every family gathering.

Every child yet to be born.

You are no longer where our eyes can see.

But you are everywhere

our hearts remember.

And as long as your name is spoken with love

Tamela Blount

will never be gone.

She will simply keep living...

heartbeat by heartbeat...

generation after generation... forever
